We strive to maximize you time and improve your health by combining body work with a specific Corrective Exercise Program. Every visit you work directly, one-on-one with Doctor of Physical Therapy (no physical therapy assistants). Thorough movement assessment, direct coaching, is combined with manual therapy to improve painful or altered movement patterns. This direct, one on one, hands on care maximizes your time and speeds your recovery.
Movement assessment based on principles from the Selective Functional Movement Assessment, Postural Restoration Institute and Strength and Conditioning are used to assess painful or altered movement patterns. Our bodies are fascinating things and after an injury or chronic condition you will move in the pattern of least resistance. This is often influenced by muscle guarding, tightness, postures or injury history. This can increase stress in certain areas producing changes in nervous system activity, inflammation, blood flow and result in pain. Direct coaching and teaching of targeted movements can help you build the motor control for more optimal, less painful patterns.
According to the American Physical Therapy Association,”Manual therapy techniques are skilled hand movements and skilled passive movements of joints and soft tissue and are intended to improve tissue extensibility; increase range of motion; induce relaxation; mobilize or manipulate soft tissues and joints; modulate pain; and reduce soft tissue swelling, inflammation, or restriction.”
Appropriately applied these techniques can improve local and systemic factors related to pain. Skilled hands on techniques like joint and soft tissue mobilization, manipulation (cracking joints), Integrative Dry Needling, and cupping can all be used to reduce pain.
There is nothing more valuable than moving better without pain. Let PHYT for Function build the foundation that adds TIME and HEALTH to your life
