New Injury Pain
When body tissue is damaged (think bruises, strained muscles or ligament strains) an acute inflammatory response occurs which sensitizes pain sensory nerves to tell the brain something is going on.
Typically, as the tissue damage heals, the inflammation is reduced and the sensitivity of the pain receptors is decreased so pain goes away.
Longer Lasting Pain
