Blood Flow Restriction (BFR) is a very popular way to improve strength without the stress of heavy weights. This can be very useful when starting a new exercise program, after an injury, or after surgery.

BFR carefully restricts blood flow to the muscle creating a fatiguing environment that replicates maximal effort exercise under safe conditions. The benefit of doing the BFR during early therapy is being able to use minimal or no weight to achieve an exercise equivalent of lifting heavy weights without straining the healing tissues. It’s truly an awesome way to build strength during early rehab!
