About Dr. Nick
Nicholas Sanders PT, DPT, CSCS, CIDN
Dr. Nick Sanders is the Founder of PHYT For Function. Nick opened PHYT For Function because he saw a glaring need to improve the patient experience in physical therapy. He specializes in orthopedic and manual physical therapy with special interests in the management of headaches, concussion, vestibular rehab and, of course, movement and performance enhancement. Dr. Sanders has a passion for teaching and is an instructor for the Integrative Dry Needling (IDN) foundation. He teaches continuing education seminars for physical therapists, chiropractors, medical doctors, and athletic trainers spreading his passion and knowledge for IDN all over the country. He is also active in consulting with local organizations, especially Crossfit Gyms, where he has done presentations on Movement Enhancement for Crossfit, running mechanics and analysis, and impacts of ankle mobility on sport and movement.
Nick is a graduate of Youngstown State University, receiving his Bachelor of Science in Exercise Science in 2008 and his Doctorate of Physical Therapy in 2011. Since his graduation, he has never stopped his passion for learning, pursuing multiple continuing education courses. He earned his Certification in Integrative Dry Needling in 2012 and became a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist through the National Strength and Conditioning Association in 2014. Additional continuing education training includes Mulligan Upper and Lower Extremity Manual Therapy Courses, Selective Functional Movement Assessment course, Postural Restoration Myokinematics and Postural Respiration courses and Spinal Manipulation Academy SMT-1 Manipulation Course. He also credits Dr. Frank Gargano, previous owner of Rehabilitex Inc, President Integrative Dry Needling, Owner Worker Fit and Workability Network; and Dr. Dave Griswold, Associate Professor at Youngstown State Physical Therapy for mentorship from the beginning of his career.
Nick lives in North Jackson, OH. with his wife Amanda. They enjoy spending time with each other, getting outside whenever possible. If Nick isn’t in the office, spending time with the family, or doing something fitness-like, you will probably find him on the river trying to figure out the best way to catch a fish.
